Mexico City. - Interjet plans to open 20 new medium density routes with 20 aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100.

The aircraft will receive them between June this year and the close of 2014, said Jose Luis Garza, CEO of the airline.

"In two years we will establish a network complementary to our route network covered with A320 aircraft to communicate better to the country," he said in an interview.

The first thing they'll do is replace the Airbus A320 currently operating on short routes that are not profitable, such as Mexico-Acapulco.
For its smaller capacity, the Superjet 100 may carry fewer people without wasting space or fuel.

Once this is complete, start the opening of the new network.
Garza declined to give final details, but said that virtually none of these routes pass through Mexico City.

The main bases of operation of the Sukhoi will be other large airports as Guadalajara, Monterrey, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Tijuana, from where they will fly to cities like Tampico, Veracruz, Minatitlan, Campeche, Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Ciudad Obregon, Tepic, Manzanillo, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, among others.
These routes do not have enough flow to be considered core, but neither are regional.

The first two aircraft will arrive in June and will begin operations in July. After that, the company will receive an additional unit per month to add 8 or 9 at the end of 2013, the rest will come in 2014.

Before starting operations, Interjet organize an official presentation for prospective passengers to familiarize themselves with this model.

Garza said the accident last year in Indonesia aboard one of these aircraft, which killed 12 people, has generated prejudices.
"The plane not only was not a factor, but it was proven that all automatic systems worked properly," he said, citing the results of the final accident report, prepared by the National Transportation Safety Board that country.

The manager said that these aircraft, Russian and Italian manufacturing, are certified not only by the Mexican authorities, but also by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

To guarantee the supply of spare parts and speed maintenance services in Mexico, Interjet signed a deal with the manufacturer for repair certificate, allowing you to buy parts directly from suppliers, some of which have plants in Mexico.
